A message from the Associate Provost

Welcome to Rowan University Libraries!

This is an exciting time to be a member of the Rowan University community.  Our three libraries are here to serve our growing institution as it continues to expand its educational focuses – offering more programs of study, more corporate partnerships, and more opportunities for our students, faculty, staff, physicians, and partners to engage in cutting-edge research.

With an increased focus on scholarly growth and engagement, our subject librarians are working to thoughtfully select resources that support new programs of study, and provide new context for research in their respective fields.  Services are available on all three of our campuses – Glassboro, Camden, and Stratford – and are often multidisciplinary, cross‑campus functions, making us more than just a group of libraries; we are a system.

Teaching faculty and researchers have access to hundreds of databases, thousands of refereed and peer-reviewed electronic journals, and physical print materials using our libraries.  We have also established collaborations with other universities and medical libraries to obtain copies of those materials that we do not own.

Faculty from any of our three campus communities may work with a subject specialist to strengthen research and scholarship activities, prepare classroom research assignments, and to assist students in their own research goals.  Our two medical libraries are well established within their campus communities, operating with truly committed librarians who work one-on-one with physicians and interns to deliver outstanding healthcare to patients.

To better serve our student populations, we continue to add new group study rooms and collaborative spaces, so that students can have access to computers and technology not only for quiet study, but also in groups.

And, we are committed to helping students strengthen their research skills, too. We recognize that early exposure to library resources and services positions students for academic success, helping students understand how and where to ask for assistance when they need it. We also understand that not every student operates on a traditional schedule. That’s why all of our libraries offer night and weekend hours. Campbell Library will continue to provide 24-hour support for students studying during final exam periods.

I encourage you to visit your campus Library, and to use the Rowan University Libraries website to discover the wealth of online resources and services available to you as a member of the Rowan University community. Scott P. Muir's signature
