Association for Library Collections and Technical Services

The Association for Library Collections and Technical Services. Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL)

he Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association, is a professional association of academic librarians and other interested individuals. It is dedicated to enhancing the ability of academic library and information professionals to serve the information needs of the higher education community and to improve learning, teaching, and research.

Documents Association of New Jersey (DANJ)

The purpose of the Documents Association of New Jersey (DANJ) is to promote use of and access to government publications in libraries in the New Jersey area. To accomplish this purpose the objectives of the Association are to provide a forum for discussion of problems and concerns, and for the exchange of ideas by librarians working with government information; to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs that promote access to, use, and bibliographic control of documents; to increase communication among documents personnel and other library personnel; to contribute to the continuing education and training of librarians working with government information.

Library Administration and Management Association

The mission of the Library Administration and Management Association is to encourage and nurture current and future library leaders, and to develop and promote outstanding leadership and management practices. Since its establishment in 1957, LAMA has been a powerful catalyst in the development of leadership in the library and information science field. Attuned to ever-changing technological, economic, political, and cultural conditions, LAMA equips library professionals with dynamic tools for building vibrant library services and successful careers.

Library and Information Technology Association

The Library and Information Technology Association is the leading organization reaching out across types of libraries to provide education and services for a broad membership. The membership includes new professionals, systems librarians, library administrators, library schools, vendors and anyone else interested in leading edge technology and applications for librarians and information providers. Programs are offered for everyone from absolute beginners to hi-tech professionals. Continuing education is provided through workshops, institutes, and an annual National Forum. Guidelines offering practical experience with various technologies are published regularly. The Information Technology and Libraries journal provides peer reviewed articles assuring the quality of this member benefit. Through LITA's Web presence you will discover a variety of services addressing trends and practical applications.

Music Library Association

The Music Library Association provides a professional forum for librarians, archivists, and others who support and preserve the world's musical heritage. To achieve this mission, we provide leadership for the collection and preservation of music and information about music in libraries and archives; develop and deliver programs that promote continuing education and professional development in music librarianship; ensure and enhance intellectual access to music for all by contributing to the development and revision of national and international codes, formats, and other standards for the bibliographic control of music; ensure and enhance access to music for all by facilitating best practices for housing, preserving, and providing access to music; promote legislation that strengthens music library services and universal access to music; foster information literacy and lifelong learning by promoting music reference services, library instruction programs, and publications; and, collaborate with other groups in the music and technology industries, government, and librarianship, to promote our mission and values.

New Jersey Library Association

Established in 1890, the New Jersey Library Association is the oldest and largest library organization in New Jersey. NJLA advocates for the advancement of library services for the residents of New Jersey, provides continuing education & networking opportunities for librarians, and supports the principles of intellectual freedom & promotes access to library materials for all. Our office in Trenton, N.J. provides services to over 1700 members.

New Jersey State Library

The New Jersey State Library has been offering the highest quality service to the executive, legislative and judicial branches of state government for more than 200 years. The State Library's mission has expanded since its establishment in 1796 to lead in the provision, promotion and support of high quality library and information services to all the people of New Jersey. The State Library's mission is filled through the efforts of the State Library Information Center, the Library Development Bureau and the Library for the Blind and Handicapped.

OCLC

Founded in 1967, OCLC Online Computer Library Center is a nonprofit, membership, computer library service and research organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and reducing the rate of rise of library costs. More than 69,000 libraries in 112 countries and territories around the world use OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend and preserve library materials.

PALINET

PALINET is a non-profit member-owned and governed organization, representing hundreds of libraries, information centers, museums, archives, and other similar organizations throughout Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and elsewhere. Currently PALINET provides professional training to thousands of people annually through its classroom and online distance education events, provides discounts for library services through a Cooperative Purchasing Program, gives assistance to members with technology concerns, and is the region's provider of  OCLC services.

Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI)

The Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI) was formed in 1996 as a grassroots federation of 35 academic libraries. PALCI is a membership organization of private and public academic libraries. The primary mission of the group is to spur the development of library cooperation within the Commonwealth and surrounding area.

Tri-State College Library Cooperative (TCLC)

The mission of the Tri-State College Library Cooperative is to advance, promote, and develop the best possible research and scholarship on the part of students and faculty members of participating colleges and research institutions and other persons interested in the educational process. To these ends, the Cooperative shall facilitate the exchange of information among participants, encourage participants to share their library facilities, develop mutually supportive collection development/resource sharing programs, maintain and encourage communication and cooperation among the participants, and develop other mutually advantageous programs and activities.

The VALE Consortium was developed in 1998 as a grass roots organization to develop inter-institutional information connectivity and collaborative library application projects among New Jersey academic libraries. VALE’s objective is to help institutions meet the demands of students and faculty for access to scholarly materials. Through cooperation and leveraged purchasing, and through the use of collaboration and cutting-edge technology, VALE seeks to provide a seamless network of access to shared electronic academic information resources throughout the state of New Jersey. The New Jersey State Library, the New Jersey Library Association, and the Council of New Jersey College and University Library Deans, University Librarians and Directors offer enthusiastic and continuing support. The VALE Consortium provides an extraordinary level of information access to academic resources in New Jersey.

VUFind

VuFind is a library resource portal designed and developed for libraries by libraries. The goal of VuFind is to enable your users to search and browse through all of your library's resources by replacing the traditional OPAC to include catalog records, locally cached journals, digital library items, institutional repository, institutional bibliography, and other library collections and resources.
