You may wonder what a teen wizard and a Renaissance man have in common…well, stop by the library and check out the latest exhibit. Paracelsus was a true Renaissance man in all senses of the word, dabbling in many different sciences and hobbies. Much of what he and his contemporaries worked on served as the basis for the alchemy, herbology, fantastical objects and magical beasts in the Harry Potter stories. J.K. Rowling didn’t just dream these concepts up, people knew about such things back in the 1500s – and some even earlier. The exhibit will be up until May 1.
