New 11th Edition of the AMA Manual of Style

August 11, 2020

A new 2020 edition of the AMA Manual of Style: a Guide for Authors and Editors has been published by the American Medical Association. This new 11th edition replaces the much older 10th edition published in 2007 and greatly expands and revises the AMA publication style to bring it up-to-date. The new 11th edition covers ethical and legal issues such as authorship, conflicts of interest, scientific misconduct, intellectual property, open access and public access, and corrections. Extensive changes and updates have been made to the references chapter to include digital publications, databases, repositories, social media, and other newer formats. New and updated nomenclature entries in many disciplines are presented to guide users in issues of diction, formatting, and preferred terminology. Sections on statistics and study design have undergone major expansion, and guidance on numbers, SI units, and math has been updated.

The RowanSOM Health Sciences Library is pleased to provide online access to the new 11th edition through our digital collection.  A print copy of the manual is also kept on Reserve in the library. EndNote users, see the annoucement on the medical libraries' EndNote guide for information on installing the 11th edition AMA output style.
