Access to Resources and Services
Members of the general public (no affiliation with Rowan University)
The library is open to the public during posted library hours; elementary and middle school students must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult. Access to online databases is available only in the library by guest login. Off-site access is not available. Interlibrary loan services are not available; check with local your public or county library if these services are desired. Borrowing privileges are normally not available (see library dean if special circumstances warrant consideration).
It should be understood that members of the Rowan University community have priority in access to workstations and reference assistance, except for access to government publications.
School groups requesting access to library
By arrangement with the Coordinator of Library Instruction, supervised group use of the library for senior high school students may be permitted on suitable days. When such permission is granted, the group must be supervised by a librarian or other responsible school official.
Alumni of Rowan University
Books and other circulating library materials may be borrowed. An alumni card is required. Access to databases is available only in the library (guest login required by library staff). Off-site access is not available.
Retirees of Rowan University
Books and other circulating library materials may be borrowed. Access to databases is available only in the library (guest login required by library staff). Off-site access is not available.
VALE – NJ
Under an agreement with VALE-NJ, faculty, staff, and graduate students from participating institutions who are in good standing at their home library qualify for onsite borrowing privileges at each other’s libraries. Go to http://www.valenj.org for instructions. The "VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Application Form" must be completed (http://www.valenj.org/newvale/recbor/recformprint.shtml), with the appropriate section completed by the host institution (Access Services Librarian in the case of Rowan University).
Note that Rowan University limits online database access to Rowan employees with a Rowan network account. All others may use online databases in the Campbell Library (guest login required by library staff; off-site access is not available).
Tri-State College Library Cooperative (TCLC)
Rowan University students, faculty, and staff may use the libraries of the Tri-State College Cooperative (TCLC). Go to http:// http://www.tclclibs.org/resources and download the “Letter of Introduction.” Our Access Services Librarian will verify status and complete the required section of the form.
Special requests
On occasion the library receives requests for special privileges from students pursuing academic programs at institutions other than Rowan University. Privileges will be granted under the terms of the general public, as outlined above. We cannot broker library privileges at other institutions for students not affiliated with Rowan University. Students should pursue interlibrary loan at their host institutions.
