Study Areas

Main Library

The Rowan-Virtua SOM Health Sciences Library has 26 individual study carrels and over 20 tables.  The library can accommodate over 230 users.  All of the study carrels and most of the tables have power and lighting.

Study Rooms

Four small study rooms each seating approximately four people are located at the rear of the library. Six new open top study rooms, each seating approximately eight people are located in the main part of the library.  Reservations are required to use these study rooms.  Only Rowan-Virtua SOM students, faculty, and staff and Rowan students in the graduate programs based in Stratford and OLOL/Virtua nursing students are allowed to reserve and utilize the study rooms.

Reservations are made for a two-hour period on a first-come, first-served basis, and may be extended, based on need. Reservations may be made online, in person or by phone.  A reservation will be held for fifteen minutes past the requested time; after this, the room will be made available to the next requester. The library reserves the right to cancel room reservations for no-shows.

Study rooms are not sound proof please be considerate of your fellow students studying nearby by keeping noise to a minimum.
Do not leave personal items unattended. The Hope Brings Strength Library is not responsible for personal items left unattended, and may remove them from study rooms.

Two additional rooms, each with seating for twelve, are also available on a first-come, first-served basis. Student reservations are not taken for these rooms, and preferential access will be given to faculty use for small group teaching.

Quiet Study Areas

Quiet study rooms, one adjacent to the service desk, and another that used to be the library's computer lab at the rear of library are available for students seeking a quieter space for individual study.
